Using blogs in the classroom
My reactions to Don’t Feed the Trolls and Mr. Harbeck’s blog are mixed. First of all, this is my first experience with blogging. I have always been completely against it due, I guess, to my age and sense of privacy. I am totally against doing things for attention. That's just my nature. I understand that for this class, I need to conform and get over all of my preconceived notions. I'm sure I will soon learn to enjoy blogging (gag) and incorporate it into my daily activities. Now, to the assignment at hand...my reactions to the two learning materials. The article was a nice introduction to the world of blogging. It provided a foundation for rules of use, so that's helpful. Mr. H's blog is very informative, yet confusing. I'm sure at the beginning of class it was simply written and grew over the term. His students followed along and understand the blog completely, I'm sure. It is very informative for someone like myself who, previously, had no idea how to use a blog. I now understand how and why it would be advantageous for a teacher to use a blog. It's like a progressive syllabus. I could see myself incorporating this type of technology into my class, but I will need to learn a lot more about blogging before using it in an academic setting. I look forward to learning something new.
